You know that nice feeling you get when things just work? Well, here at Mendeley we love coming up with ways to make that happen for researchers everywhere, and building features that save them time is usually a good way to go about it.
As a PhD student myself, I know that one of the biggest time drains when doing your research can be the process of finding, processing and organizing your relevant citations and papers. Having to download each one individually before adding them to Mendeley was a big frustration when doing my literature review, and many academics in our community shared similar experiences.

As university professor, with great pressure to publish in academic journals, I find academic generalist networks essential, such as ResearchGate, Academia.edu or Mendeley, which help me to:
- Disseminate on the web my published articles to try to obtain citations and name among the scientific community in my field of expertise
- Find research papers quickly and easily
- Search for collaboration and international research projects
- Share ideas and find solutions
I wonder if you can do the same on Facebook or Linkedin. Facebook don’t clearly do it because it’s very focused on leisure and personal life but, what about Linkedin? With millions of professors and professionals connected interested in science/research?

CONCEPT AND USES
An infographic is a visual representation of information in graphic format designed to make data easily understandable at a glance. The quick rise of infographics is primarily the result of the new, easy-to-use software available on the internet to create them. Nowadays, anyone can create an infographic thanks to the tools we will be presenting below.
We can safely affirm that almost anything can be converted into an infographic, and they certainly abound in almost any public environment: traffic signs, subway maps, tag clouds, musical scores, and weather charts are just a few examples among a huge number of possibilities.
Infographics are used to convey messages quickly, to simplify the presentation of large amounts of data, to see data patterns and relationships, and to monitor changes in variables over time. They may include bar graphs, pie charts, Gantt charts, histograms, line charts, tree diagrams, mind maps, or network diagrams.
Besides being visually appealing, there is more to them for online businesses. Infographics can be one of the most effective strategies in an overall digital marketing campaign because you are adding interactive content to your website. Some of the benefits of using infographics include:

Easel.ly is a fun tool to create your Infographics with drag-and-drop features and a simple interface. You can easily create and share visual ideas online, supported by ‘vhemes’ or visual themes that help you get started from the preset infographic style. Drag and drop a ‘vheme’ onto your canvas to turn your idea into a full infographic.

And last but not least, Genial.ly, whose main features are the following:

Summing up, infographics are a visually-appealing way of displaying information that would be too arid if presented in a conventional manner.
